“Panorama Transportes” is a monthly report published by the Brazilian government through the Ministry of Infrastructure, containing several indicators of the transport sector: movement of cargo and passengers, traffic and security, and socioeconomic indicators.

In last February’s edition, the figures related to grain exports show increased selection of waterways as mode of transport, totaling 6.35 million tons of such agricultural commodities handled, or an increase of more than 100% compared to the same month in 2021.

More water transport follows the growth in production. According to the National Supply Company, grain production in Brazil could reach a volume of 269.3 million tons in 2022, up 5.4% compared to the prior harvest, an achievement of paramount importance in food security.
