The new concession contract for President Dutra highway - which connects the states of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo - is expected to last 30 years, promising to make it the most advanced highway in Brazil and to generate almost 220 thousand direct and indirect jobs.

The highway concession is the largest in Brazil and also includes the Rio-Santos route. The concessionaire's investment package totals R$14.8 billion and R$10.8 billion in operational services.

The contract includes the additional construction of 590 km of lanes, 128 footbridges, 144 kilometers of roads and 535 bus stops. Four rest areas will also be built for truck drivers and 59 animal crossing lanes.

The metropolitan region of São Paulo will also benefit from works. To improve access to Guarulhos airport, 366 kilometers of 3rd and 4th lanes and 10 kilometers of new marginal roads will be built, considerably reducing travel time between the airport and the state capital.

In the state of Rio de Janeiro, the plan is to build 203 kilometers of 3rd and 4th lanes, 26 kilometers of additional traffic lanes for overtaking, and 80 kilometers of duplicated lanes on the road connecting the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Angra dos Reis.
